The meaning of color is much like the “meaning” of anything. (It disappears when the focus is not upon it). I find it appropriate that color comes to us in a spectrum. It embodies the assignment of human appropriation. It is the way we try to, in our minds, own the space around us–but really serves only as an expression of the same type of weak, ascribed, contrived, description we put on everything. You ask me the meaning of color and I ask you the meaning of sight. Of perception. Of being. Color exists only where light does…and light, as we know, is a privilege in this universe. We’d do well to see color as we don’t the rest of our privileges. (MIND YOUR PROJECTIONS!!) Your world is not the same (color) as a bat’s. Or a dolphin’s. Or a dejected, color-blind air force hopeful. A rose by another name might be green. 

Luna winks.
First faintly,
Then in morse code message
of escalating urgency
directed at
mind behind cognitive curtain.
Her swirling sisters
Lock-pick-listening,
clicks in the code,
orchestrating an override.

I feared I’d go blind.
Teaspoon eyes,
no vessel for
oceans of wisdom

But beginning to gulp,
I realize my depth. 

A pink tongue cannot lap-
As fast as you drip.
I tripped,
face-first,
met your glass door atmosphere
cyclone of pheromones
had me drinking
your kool-aid
and thinking
of springtime
with a rabbit’s mind.

Of autumn’s leaves-
honeymoon suites,
hidden from the street,
conveniently.

I, careening,
clothed in lily-love
swing from swamp vines
bath in lush exhalation
fertile tropics, indeed.
A comfortable jungle.
Where warm nectar
from your whisper
fills hollow-truffle keyholes

Tomorrow,
ears too sticky
to hear the alarm clock
